The West Frankfort Outlet Mall will soon have a new restaurant and microbrewery. Little Egypt Beer has leased a 2,600-square-foot section of the mall that was previously used as a restaurant and will be opening what the owner calls a “fast-casual” eatery along with brewing, canning and distribution of their beers. The city purchased the 95,000 square foot mall and the frontage property in 2015 in an effort to help boost economic development for the area. The city of West Frankfort and Mayor Tom Jordan hope to attract more retail stores to the mall and build a strong and sustainable retail business environment. The Outlet Mall is located just west of Interstate 57 at exit 65

A new wastewater treatment plant is now under construction. For years, there have been problems with flooding of the current wastewater facility. Now a $6.4 million project to build a new wastewater treatment plant is now underway.
“It is going to enable us to relocate our sewer plant to higher ground so the flooding won’t be a problem,” said Mayor Jordan. The project should be completed in 2018.
